Gate City Civitan Club and Hiltons Elementary PTA will be holding the first ever Civitan-PTA Golf Classic on April 27, 2007 at Scott County Park and Golf Course.
Funds raised from this event will be used to pay for replacement playground equipment at Hiltons Elementary School. Older equipment on site was considered so un-safe that several parents refused to let their children play at the playground. The golf tournament caps several years of fundraising by the PTA, with several hours and projects put in by both parents, teachers and the students.
Currently, we’re up to 5 teams, with several people trying to put teams together.
We need:
- individual golfers
- teams and team sponsors
- hole sponsors
100% of funds raised through this tournament will support PTA efforts in Scott County.

 Update: Clergy Night has been rescheduled to February 15 by ministerial request.
Since 1960, Civitan clubs have recognized their local clergy during the week of February 3 for Clergy Appreciation Week. What began as a remembrance of 4 military chaplains of different faiths who gave up their life vests during the sinking of the USS Dorchester February 3, 1943, has become a recognition of the work all clergy do for our communities.
Gate City Civitan Club will honor local clergy at a dinner celebration held at Gate City United Methodist Church [ map ] on Thursday, February 8, 2007. All Scott County clergy are invited to attend.

The Gate City City Civitan Club will host an informational meeting concerning options for a Medicare Advantage Fee-for-Service Plan, presented by Jeffrey K. Elkins from Pyramid Life Insurance Company.
The presentation will take place at 7:15 p.m. following the regular club meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Place: Gate City United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
